2026 Candidate Training Academy

Prepare to Lead.
Learn to Campaign.
Serve Your Community.

Thinking about running for elected office or supporting someone who is?

The Washington County Chamber’s Candidate Training Academy is a nonpartisan leadership program designed for individuals considering public office, supporting campaigns, or seeking a deeper understanding of the political process. Whether you’re exploring a future run for office or preparing to serve behind the scenes, this Academy provides practical skills, expert guidance, and local insight to help you lead with confidence.

Why Choose the Candidate Training Academy?

Our Academy is uniquely focused on local leadership roles such as city council, county commission, and state legislative seats.

Local Focus. Practical Experience.

Designed specifically for Washington County and Oregon’s local political landscape, participants learn from elected officials, campaign professionals, policy experts, and communications specialists with firsthand experience navigating local campaigns and public service.

Nonpartisan by Design

The Academy welcomes participants from every political perspective. Our focus is not on ideology—it’s on ethical leadership, civic engagement, and preparing participants to serve their communities effectively.

Hands-On Learning

Interactive workshops, real-world scenarios, and practical exercises provide participants with tools they can immediately apply to campaigns, community leadership, and public service.

Connections That Last

Beyond the classroom, participants build relationships with fellow aspiring leaders, community partners, and experienced mentors who continue to serve as valuable resources long after the program concludes.

Application Process

Admission to the Candidate Training Academy is competitive and intended to create a collaborative learning cohort. Applications will be accepted through 5:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026.

Applications are reviewed by a Chamber selection committee. Acceptance is based on each applicant’s demonstrated interest in public service, commitment to ethical leadership, and alignment with the goals and policies of the Academy. Acceptance into the program is not automatic.

Applicants will be notified following the committee’s review.
