“My internship at MetaFab led me down a path that I didn’t think I was capable of overcoming at the age of 22 – purchasing my first home, as well as being promoted to a Full-Time Engineering position within six months of being hired at MetaFab. I have gained skills in communication and looking at different perspectives. To see people who had faith in me to be better than I was the day before made me feel appreciated and valued. I hold a lot of respect for my coworkers. I wouldn’t be where I am today without interning at this wonderful company that values teaching the youth of today the ways of manufacturing. Manufacturing is always changing and there’s always a new problem to solve and overcome.”

– Darby

“I applied for a Davis Tool internship because it seemed like a great opportunity to build on my skills and get experience under my belt all while building my resume. I gained so many skills during my internship. The thing that surprised me the most was how well I was treated and taught and trained. Everyone was so quick to go above and beyond answering questions, but also gave an explanation as to why and how. I learned some basic but crucial social skills and I would completely recommend internships in manufacturing for youth. The experience and skills you gain are nothing you can learn at school or at home. These skills and the experience are so valuable and are things you can’t learn at other places that typically hire teenagers.”

-Mariah

“This internship sounded like a great opportunity to gain experience with a manufacturing company. I thought that I was going to feel out of place due to being the only teenager, but my manager and coworkers made me feel welcome. I learned how to receive and ship parts through QLaunch, how to be hardworking because of the competitive market that Davis Tool is in, and how to work effectively with others through physical work.”

-Caleb

“My apprenticeship at Genentech began in July of 2019. There were some hiccups in the beginning however, they were worked through. Considering this was the first apprenticeship program ever at Genentech, there were bound to be some kinks worked out. It was handled with ease and professionalism by all involved. In fact, it was how it was handled that made me want to be a part of the permanent “blue badge” family. It’s not often you come across a company that genuinely cares for their employees. The wealth of knowledge and patience of my trainers and co-workers has been invaluable. I officially became a blue badge earlier this month. I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of the team and one of the first apprentices.”
